About us

Slovaks in Australia is an array of community projects carried out by a loosely knit group of individuals of the Czech and Slovak origin in Melbourne, Australia.

The projects include a community newsletter, regular informal social events at Koliba Czech and Slovak restaurant or Sumava Peksa Park, participation in multi-cultural events, promoting Slovakia and Slovak nationality in Australia, and production of the calendar of Slovak folklore costumes in the streets of Melbourne.

Slovaks in Australia is not a legal entity and has no formal structure in place. It rather exists on basis of ad hoc and informal get-togethers of people willing to materialize ideas for the benefit of the communities. Strictly not-for-profit operational mode is maintained, and solely private individuals' funds are used to support the ongoing projects. Any profit is used to start the future ones.
